A haute couture overture weaving opera, art, and memory

Overture is the inaugural haute couture collection of Adalligo, a brand concept developed during my postgraduate studies in Bridal Collection Design & Haute Couture Techniques at LCI Barcelona. The collection explores melancholy, memory, and transformation, weaving together references from opera, theater, and classical art to create garments that transcend fashion and become symbolic amulets of emotion.

Adalligo was born from the belief that garments can serve as containers of memory — timeless amulets that protect and evoke emotions. Overture represents the opening act of this vision: a journey from darkness to light, where melancholy becomes a path to catharsis and rebirth.

Inspired by Ingmar Bergman’s The Seventh Seal, the drama of the opera stage, and the mysticism of historical corsetry, the collection combines craftsmanship, symbolism, and narrative design. Each piece embodies transformation, fusing the rigor of structure with the fluidity of movement.

The collection was developed through research, watercolor illustration, draping, and digital experimentation with Clo3D. Techniques of historical corsetry were reinterpreted using modern haute couture methods, balancing rigid construction with soft transparency and pleated fabrics.

Materials were carefully chosen to reflect the collection’s duality: from taffeta and wild silk to hand-pleated chiffon, evoking both weight and lightness.

The palette transitions from deep emerald, midnight blue, and burgundy to champagne gold, ivory, and soft rose, symbolizing the passage from darkness to light. Textures evolve from heavy structured textiles to light, ethereal fabrics, narrating the journey of transformation.
