A cinematic study of 1960s bridalwear shaped by memory, emotion, and transition

Geneviève is a bridal couture project developed during a workshop in collaboration with Teresa Helbig, inspired by the visual and emotional universe of Les Parapluies de Cherbourg. Centered on the figure of Geneviève, the project explores the delicate tension between romantic idealism and the inevitability of adulthood, where love, loss, and acceptance quietly coexist.

The collection unfolds as a narrative of transformation, tracing the passage from innocence to emotional maturity. Rooted in a language of softness and restraint, the designs evoke a fleeting femininity that is gradually redefined through structure and control. Each silhouette becomes a reflection of this evolution, balancing fragility with an emerging sense of strength.

Drawing from the codes of 1960s Parisian elegance and the cinematic use of color and atmosphere, the project combines delicate craftsmanship with a considered approach to construction. Layers of tulle, lace, and silk organza create depth and movement, while more structured elements ground the silhouettes, introducing contrast and intention.

The collection was developed through research, conceptual drawing, and atelier-based experimentation, including pattern making, prototyping, and garment construction. Particular focus was placed on the development of volume and layering, as well as on the reinterpretation of bridal textures through contemporary techniques.

Materials were selected to express the project’s emotional duality: soft tulles and lace suggest lightness and nostalgia, while silk organza introduces a subtle sense of distance and protection. The palette of blush, peach, and muted tones reinforces this atmosphere, creating a visual language that is both intimate and melancholic.
